Experience the comforting warmth of our flavorful meatball soup recipe – indulge in a bowlful of culinary bliss and elevate your dining experience now!

Meatball soup, or "sup bakso" in Indonesian, is a popular and well-loved Indonesian dish. It consists of meatballs cooked in a rich broth, typically served with noodles or rice. The broth of meatball soup is usually made from flavorful beef broth. The lengthy boiling process and combination of spices result in a rich and fragrant broth, which is a hallmark of meatball soup. Meatball soup is often served piping hot and garnished with sliced shallots, fried shallots, chili paste, and sweet soy sauce to add extra flavor. The dish is a comforting and satisfying meal enjoyed by many in Indonesia. Meatball soup is a delicious comfort food for you to enjoy when the weather is cold. Apart from warming, this sauce made from beef broth can also help maintain the body's immunity. How to make it is actually not that difficult, if the meatballs themselves are ready. Here's a simple recipe for making your own meatball soup at home:

Ingredients:

  • 10 meatballs (Bakso)

  • 1 small plastic bag of beef brisket

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 1 packet of chicken bouillon powder

  • 1 packet of instant meatball seasoning

  • Water

Cooking instructions:

  1. Peel the garlic. Then wash the garlic thoroughly with clean water until completely clean. Once clean, simply crush the garlic without cutting it into pieces.

  1. Prepare the beef brisket. If it's still frozen, let it thaw for a while until completely thawed.

  2. Once it's not frozen, wash the beef brisket thoroughly to remove any dirt that may still be attached.

  3. Then boil the beef brisket over low heat until the beef brisket is completely cooked and not fishy. After boiling, let it cool for a while until the beef brisket is cold.

  4. Once it's cooled, cut the beef brisket into small pieces or according to your preference so that it won't cause choking when eaten, as the beef brisket has a chewier and tougher texture compared to other parts of the meat.

  1. Next, prepare a pot, add water as needed for the meatball soup.

  2. Add the crushed garlic and the chopped beef brisket into the pot. Simmer over medium heat until boiling. The purpose of adding the beef brisket first is to obtain natural broth from the fat of the meat. My advice would be not to use the first broth from boiling the beef brisket, as it might taste fishy and dirty.

  1. While waiting for it to boil, prepare the meatballs. Slice a bit on the surface of each meatball to form a "+" so that the meatballs can be evenly cooked inside.

  2. Once it's boiling, add the meatballs to the pot. Also, add instant meatball seasoning and beef broth powder to taste. Stir until evenly mixed and cook over low heat until boiling. Don't forget to taste the soup to determine if the flavor is right or not, because if it's not, the meatball soup might taste very salty. However, if it's already too salty, it can be fixed by adding plain water.

  1. Once it's cooked, the meatball soup is ready to be served hot with boiled noodles!
